Educational Requirements for MAI Designation

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: To track your progress toward Designated membership, check your Associate Status Report.

Required Standards and Ethics Courses for All Appraisal Institute Associate Members:

  1. Within the initial first-year cycle, provide proof of passing the 15-Hour National Uniform Standards of Professional Practice (USPAP) course and exam. Once past the initial cycle, the 7-Hour USPAP may be taken instead for subsequent Standards and Ethics cycles.

    NOTE: Members who practice solely outside the United States may complete the
    International Valuation Standards course instead of the USPAP course.

  2. Complete the Appraisal Institute course, Business Practices and Ethics.
